What is art for? a game exploring the question at the heart OF WICDIV through scientific lenses

This game/immersive experience was created with Sara Kenney (SurgeonX, Wowbagger Productions) as part of her fellowship at the Wellcome Trust, exploring how comics can create greater public engagement with STEM subjects. The comic book The Wicked + The Divine, by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie, examines the question of what is art for through the lives of 12 teenage gods as popstars; we took five of these gods and associated them to five scientific ‘lenses’. The audience talked philosophy with a rave bar tender, psychology with a hippy guru and several other scientific experts costumed as part of the WICDIV world. As they travelled around the room the audience created their own artwork and could incorporate the solutions to puzzles found in boxes around the room into what they made in order to gain access to a secret silent disco party hidden in the space.
